Range Officers

  • Every member is authorized to act as a Range Officer to enforce the range safety rules.
    • Please be courteous and polite.
  • Members are encouraged to report problems with the range or member conduct to the executive.
  • All members are requested to help novice shooters, or new members, to explain the use of club rules, advise and instruct when appropriate.

The club executive from time to time may authorize additional volunteers to act as Volunteer Range Officers. If you are interested in assisting as a Volunteer Range Officer please contact the club executive.

The Volunteer Range Officer will:

  1. Function as a friendly, respectful and knowledgeable ambassador for the SGFA.
  2. Actively patrol SGFA ranges and grounds to provide information and assistance, prevent or correct rule violations, maintain a safe environment, determine range conditions, and ensure club buildings and assets are secure.
  3. Ensure only authorized persons are on SGFA grounds per the “SGFA Policy”
  4. Assist Members with information, safe shooting advice, clearing stoppages and malfunctions, first aid, and render other such assistance as necessary.
  5. Inspect ranges and provide condition reports and maintenance requests.
  6. Enforce club rules as required; document and investigate violations.
  7. Submit reports to the Executive and contact for advice as appropriate.
  8. Take charge in emergency incidents, manage response, document and report.
